PALM SPRINGS, CA (USA), January 27, 2008 – Global Cell Solutions (GCS) and Hamilton Company today presented the BioLevitator™ and CellSTAR 3D systems as a major advancement in cell culture within the background of one of the largest laboratory automation conferences worldwide, LabAutomation 2008.

The BioLevitator™ is convenient bench-top mammalian cell culture system designed to replace the many components of a traditional cell culture facility. Four independently-controlled high density cultures can be maintained within the BioLevitator™ via a simple and intuitive software interface. Incubator temperature and CO2 levels are user-definable and real-time culture monitoring tracks media pH and cell density. Furthermore, it can be integrated onto the Hamilton STAR platform to create a fully-automated and scalable solution (the CellSTAR 3D) depending on the needs during the drug discovery lifecycle. “The research community has recognized the need to normalize the cell culture process to achieve reliable and consistent results, especially as they continue to move into more complex assays, including high content screening,” said Uday Gupta, President of Global Cell Solutions.
