What’s the best city to raise a family? According to editors at Best Life, Honolulu, Hawaii tops the list at No. 1 for its education spending and, of course, its beaches! Reno comes in it at No. 31 right after Ann Arbor, MI (30) and before Las Vegas (32). The worst place to raise a family – Clarksville, Tenn. The editors evaluated 257 cities weighing a variety of data including education and student-teacher ratios, safety and plenty of quality of life components such as museums, parks and pediatricians in the area.

Newsweek's list of top high schools in America ranks 11 of Washoe County’s public high schools among the top 5 percent for preparing students for college from 1,358 public high schools in the nation.  The ranking is based on the number of advanced placement or international baccalaureate tests taken by all students in 2007.
