The MICROLAB STAR Tube Gripper is a dedicated channel for manipulating tubes with the workstation.  The channel has the same independent y-axis (forward/backward) and z-axis (up/down) movement independence as an independent pipetting channel.  However, the gripper is a permanent fixture.  Its main utility might be to transfer tubes from a tube carrier to a vortex mixer and back.
