The easyBlood Standard Workstation is designed to fractionate blood samples for biobanking applications. It fully automates fraction detection and pipetting of the corresponding fractions.

easyBlood system overview

easyBlood is able to detect buffy coat and gel separators in centrifuged blood tubes and automatically separates these fractions into a variety of target containers found in today’s biobanks. Using other Hamilton standard modules, the complete biobanking sample preparation workflow can be automated with the easyBlood:

• Barcode reading on primary tube
• Fraction detection (Plasma, Buffy Coat, Red Blood Cells)
• Pipetting of all three fractions
• Aliquoting
• 2D barcode scanning of target tubes (Mircotubes from various manufacturers)

The Hamilton STARLine instruments offer the greatest flexibility in terms of application design for all scientific fields. The high-resolution industrial camera creates crystal clear images of the primary tubes. The dedicated image processing software recognizes the buffy coat (or gel separator plugs) and translates the position of the buffy coat into pipetting scripts programmed according to the workflow of the lab.
